Ursidae - Corset Belt
A velvet needlepoint corset depicting a radiant moon bear, with gold eyes and claws, framed by delicate branches and red berries. Created to embody strength and provide sacred protection when worn.
Part of my first wearable collection, this corset explores the translation of needlepoint into garment form. The needlepoint panel is entirely hand-stitched and illustrated by me, making each piece a one of a kind corset, and reflects a study of structure, texture, and traditional technique. Minor variations reflect the handmade process and make each corset unique. Designed to be worn as a statement piece for a renaissance faire or layered into a personal wardrobe.
Sizing
This corset was developed using a US size 6 dress form and features a 24" fully closed waist. It is intended to fit a natural waist of approximately 26–29 inches. Adjustable lacing on both sides allows for a flexible fit across a small range of sizes. Best suited for occasional or light wear.
Details
Unboned construction for softer, flexible fit. Black crushed velvet outer fabric. Black cotton lining. Brass eyelets on both right and left sides. Black ribbon lacing (100% polyester). This order comes with a muslin dust bag for clothing storage and an extra set of ribbon lacing.
GARMENT CARE
This piece combines hand-stitched needlepoint with garment construction and should be treated with care.
With the utmost caution, spot clean only with cold water and a barely damp soft cloth, just if the stain is fresh. Take care not to rub the stitched surface, only blot. Do not machine wash or fully submerge in water. This method should only be used very occasionally, as it risks warping the panel and pulling the stitches.
For safe and proper cleaning, professional dry cleaning is recommended; inform your cleaner of the delicate, hand-worked needlepoint panel and if the garment has structure (boning).
Wear a thin layer underneath, like a camisole, to reduce sweat and oils.
Avoid over-tightening, this can stress seams and needlepoint stitching. Do not pull on the threads of the needlepointed areas.
When not in use, store flat in a cloth dust bag (provided with each garment) away from direct sunlight, to preserve the integrity of the textile.
